HUGO TORO
Creative studio 1.6.9 invited architect-designer Hugo Toro to
design an unusual Rugs entitled Marycruz.
An exceptional Rugs imagined as a painting
The richness of materials, the strength of colors, a sense of contrast and
the sublimation of light are all structuring principles of Hugo Toro's work
. For Rugs Marycruz, which reveals pre-Columbian
inspirations, there was a desire for a pictorial rendering.
It all started with a drawing that Hugo Toro painted before translating it into
Rugs . Because for Hugo Toro, it all starts with a drawing.
"I'll never tire of a color" (Hugo Toro)
An adept of explosive mixes, Hugo Toro creates a dialogue between
materials and different colors, deploying a subtle play of
contrasts: braided linen for raw spirit and silk for softness sit
side by side, sublimated by colors of natural pigments: yellow ochre,
red ochre, sienna, as well as an intense green.
In evoking Marycruz, Hugo Toro insists on this desire to design a
Rugs joyful, nature-oriented design. An exceptionally textured Rugs with
character, but also very soft and warm, with graphics in revisited geometric
shapes. These create a permanent sense of movement,
reinforced by the reliefs and different flat areas.
Travel as inspiration
Travel as inspiration is what most faithfully characterizes the
Hugo Toro style. His nomadic sensibility comes from his plural origins,
from Mexico, which he lives subliminally with his mother, and from the
numerous journeys he makes and records in notebooks.
Hugo Toro is a journey without destination, powerfully evocative and
eternally renewed.
