Collage Collection
Textile designer and colourist Marie Bastide has been specialising for several years in the creation of exceptional Rugs . Her expertise in specific techniques and know-how in the field now allows her to approach Rugs with great creative freedom, as evidenced by the Taoka, Doblas and Coban pieces produced in collaboration with Édition 1.6.9. Beyond its decorative vocation, the Collage collection sets up Rugs as a real work of art: a territory of expression and experimentation like no other, of which the designer never tires of exploiting the full range of possibilities!
Born of a human encounter around a residential project, the Edition 1.6.9 X Marie Bastide collection, presented at the Milan Furniture Fair in 2022, illustrates all the richness of the ancestral Nepalese craft of hand-knotting as exploited by the designer. The result of passionate research into shapes, colours and textures, the Rugs Taoka, Doblas and Coban translate with strength and boldness all the sensuality of a fluctuating and vibrant nature: an inexhaustible source of inspiration for Marie Bastide... Using a very contemporary abstract pictorial register, the designer expresses here, in a subtle balance, the intimate power of memories or sensations preciously buried in her memory.
